Brewery Bucks National Decline In Beer Sales

Reviewing a terrific last 12 months, Mike Hitchen the founder, managing director and head brewer of 3 Rivers confirmed a 25% increase in weekly output to keep pace with current demand for draught and bottled ales – particularly Manchester IPA and Old Disreputable – during the brewery’s busiest ever sales period.

Brewery Searches For Super Dad

3 Rivers has announced a two week on-air and online promotion, with Manchester’s recently launched classic rock station 106.1 Rock Radio, to find Greater Manchester’s most deserving dad. Running between June 2 and June 13, the promotion – the first of its kind for 3 Rivers – will boost awareness of the brewery massively as well as giving one lucky winner the Father’s Day prize of a lifetime: the chance to visit the brewery, create his own recipe, brew and then drink his own bespoke ale every day for the next year.

3 Rivers Achieves Local Hero Status

3 Rivers has cemented its first ever distribution deal with one of the UK’s most up-market supermarket chains, Waitrose, by comfortably beating all of the initial sales targets set for it by the retailer. Supplying selected Waitrose stores with 500ml bottles of its smooth-bodied Manchester IPA and dark, malty brew, Old Disreputable, as part of the retailer’s commitment to promote top quality local and regional products sourced from up to a 50 mile radius of a Waitrose outlet, the brewer now shares space on the supermarket shelves with ales sourced from around 85 other traditional breweries.

Tesco Stores Flooded By 3 Rivers

Completing the transformation from micro-brewery to rapidly growing national beer producer, the team at 3 Rivers has secured distribution for its flagship brand, Manchester IPA, through supermarket giant Tesco Stores Ltd. Stocked as part of Tesco’s regional sourcing initiative, 3 Rivers’s most famous bottled real ale will be distributed through selected stores close to the brewery’s base in Reddish.

City’s Name Soon To Be On Tip Of Tongues Nationwide

Manchester’s name is being heard in pubs the length and breadth of the country, as regulars now get the opportunity to ask for a pint of Manchester IPA, 3 Rivers’s classically brewed pale ale, made from local hops, which is being sold outside of the City and its surrounds for the first time. Becoming one of the smallest breweries ever to secure a national rotation with the 700- strong high street pub chain Wetherspoons, the Reddish brewer expects to sell almost a quarter of a million pints a month as a result of the deal.

3 Rivers Thrashes Out Threshers Deal

Expanding Stockport-based 3 Rivers has achieved another significant sales breakthrough for two of its brands, agreeing its first ever distribution deal through the UK’s largest off-license chain. Initially available in some 40 Thresher stores throughout Stockport and Greater Manchester, 500ml bottles of Old Disreputable and Manchester IPA have already been selling well ahead of expectations making a planned expansion across a wider regional footprint; into Merseyside, the rest of Cheshire and more of Lancashire, a more immediate prospect.

Lights CAMRA Action

3 Rivers has been crowned ‘2007 Cask Champion’ by the local branch of CAMRA and has celebrated winning the award - not given since 2004 because of the poor standard of beers on offer to real ale drinkers in the area - by creating a special commemorative brew called ‘Lights CAMRA Action’. The smallest brewery ever to win the title, making the achievement all the more remarkable, 3 Rivers was recognised for its commitment to real ale; its unfaltering promotion of cask conditioned beers; the help it provides to other micro-breweries; and the launch of its private members bar, The Riverbank Room, on-site in Reddish.

Old Disreputable Brewer Becomes American Idol

The 3 Rivers Brewery has succeeded where a number of large, multi-national firms have failed: exporting its beer to an increasingly discerning US market. An initial order to supply 20,000 bottles of Old Disreputable to Chicago’s leading beer wholesaler means that the dark, malty brew, with subtle hints of chocolate and coffee, normally on sale within 50 miles of the brewery, will now be available some 4,000 miles away to thousands of customers in bars, restaurants and speciality stores across the States.
