Bottles & Cask

The world of beer is infinitely diverse: much more so than the world of wine for instance. A great beer produced from malted barley, hops, yeast and water, brewing sugars, spices, fruit and other secret ingredients, offers all the complexity, interest, and sensual pleasure of a fine wine. It just costs a lot less. Each year as a nation we consume over 100 litres of beer per head: that’s five times more beer than wine but, traditionally, the focus seems to have been on the grape rather than the grain.

But we want to change that. Our philosophy is a simple one. Great taste in beer. Real beer, with an aroma, a colour and a flavour to savour. Beer which is as much a part of British heritage as fish and chips.

It’s a philosophy which has served us well as we have expanded our range of real ales over the years with CAMRA recognising 3 Rivers in 2007 for its commitment to real ale; its unfaltering promotion of cask conditioned beers and the help it provides to other independent breweries.

Currently, we produce five core cask conditioned ales accompanied by a growing range of bottled beers. Manchester IPA, our flagship brand, is joined by Old Disreputable, GMT, Hilary Gold and Crystal Wheat.

Added to that, we have a selection of seasonal specials with Yummy Figgy Pudding, Delta Dark, Murphy’s Law and Julie’s Pride amongst the most well known.

What you won’t find anywhere in our range though are cold-fermented, filtered and pasteurised, gassy beers chilled to disguise their lack of taste.

But how do you know which brew to try? And just what would make the ideal gift for the beer lover in your life? Well, help is at hand with our downloadable tasting notes, giving you the low down on what’s available, when.

Quench your thirst for knowledge by finding out which cask conditioned beers are bursting with fresh biscuity tastes, hints of dark chocolate, even zesty citrus flavours, and which bottled ales are best drunk in moderation or are better suited to the tastes of bitter enthusiasts.
